A Hearty Welcome to Community Builders

community_buildersI’m pleased to announce the addition of John Lavey, Alison Berry and other bloggers from Community Builders and the Sonoran Institute to our line-up of contributors to Smart Growth for Conservatives. John is a land use planner with Community Builders, a project of the Sonoran Institute, and Alison is a research analyst with the Sonoran Institute specializing in economics and renewable energy.

Community Builders, which focuses on communities in the Inter-Mountain West, shares many of the same perspectives as Smart Growth For Conservatives. Although the organization does not identify itself as “smart growth,” it is committed to building strong and diverse economies, quality growth, vibrant downtowns, and complete neighborhoods. Like the organization supports free-market and fiscally conservative approaches to achieving these goals.

We have agreed to cross-post material from each other’s blogs. Today, we inaugurate our association by presenting (in the previous post) a chapter on parking from the Community Builders publication, “A Brief History of Your Neighborhood.”
